The New Year

The New Year stretches out in front of us like a new road to travel. Got plans? Mine started slowly ~ I didn’t exactly rip into the New Year as planned but I am accomplishing quite a bit.

We have been renovating our small cabin on Donner Lake and there are a lot of decisions to be made along the way. Last week we had the electrical walkthrough for lighting, plugs, switching, etc. It was a very cold day in the mountains and I was thankful for all the extra layers I piled on. With 20″ of fresh snow the day before and no windows or heat in the cabin yet, it was beyond chilly. But just to see this view again was totally worth it. This is the view from our new deck.

What could possibly be better? I’ll take this view in any season! Today I met with Katie from KTG Design. She has so many good ideas for the cabin/lake house. Interior framing continues and we can’t wait to implement some of Katie’s ideas. The plan is to keep this space in the family for generations so we are putting a lot family items into it. Several posts ago, I talked about taking the old family barn down in Michigan. We had the family barn disassembled, trucked to California, and we are using it for interior beams, floors, trim work, and so much more.

There will be a little painting corner for me which will have this same view. Unreal, isn’t it? Looking forward to getting the kayaks out on the lake again.

Until then I’ll keep making decisions and painting. You can see my most recent works at KarenBurnsFineArt.com ~ sizes, pricing, etc. If you have any questions, please just ask. I’d be happy to talk with you.

I do hope your New Year started off great and will continue to be wonderful along the open road that stretches in front of you.

Thanks for stopping by.
